FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME AT Rayat Institute Of Engineering and IT

Prof. M. K. Surappa, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, inaugurated a two-day Faculty Development and Orientation Programme at Rayat Institute of Engineering & Information Technology, Railmajra for the Engineering Faculty of CSE & IT branches from all the Campuses of the Rayat-Bahra Group. Notwithstanding the weekend, some 150 Faculty members participated in this Programme. Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Surrapa said that improving teaching skills of the faculty with innovative methods was imperative for producing better human resource. He called upon the Faculty to shed water tight compartments of their disciplines, enhance interaction with their colleagues to pursue interdisciplinary research for the benefit of society and industry, selecting more relevant issues like water quality, energy crisis etc. He said that the development of new sensors to cater to the needs of the changing environment was an important area of research. In the present times, funds were not a constraint for the pursuit of research which are available in plenty through National Programmes, he added. Prof. Surrapa visited some departments of the Institute and was impressed with the infrastructure for engineering education.

Prof. S.B.Singh, Ex-Principal GNDEC Ludhiana talked about the “ Attributes of a Good Teacher “, Dr. Amardeep Singh, Head Computer Science UIET Punjabi University, Patiala delivered talk on “Nano Technology“ followed by Prof. R.S. Salaria, Head CS & IT, Rayat-Bahra Hoshiarpur Campus who spoke on “Teaching Methodology” and “How to become a Good Teacher “.

Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, PEC university, Chandigarh gave a talk on Teaching Methodology and designing and implementation of course work files. Prof. Deepak Garg, A.P, Department of Computer Science, Thapar University, Patiala spoke on ‘Approximation Algorithms’ and Mr. Bawant Gurunay, an acclaimed Management Guru and motivator gave a talk on Team building, Stress management and Faculty Motivation

Earlier, Prof. S. C. Bedi, Campus Director gave the welcome address and presented an overview of the Rayat-Bahra Group while Brig. J. K. Sharma, Director-Principal of the host Institute gave a preview of the programme. Prof. Prem Kumar, the Executive Director of the Group, highlighted the importance and necessity of such programmes and also unveiled the Rayat-Bahra vision. In the valedictory ceremony, participation certificates are awarded to the participating Faculty members. Prof. Harish Kundra, HOD, CSE/IT and the Coordinator of the Faculty Development Programme presented the vote of thanks and promised more such programmes and expert lectures.

Infosys selects 126 Rayat-Bahra students

Infosys, the IT giant, has selected one hundred and twenty six students from Rayat-Bahra group. In biggest ever haul of the region, the selected students will join Infosys in February itself.In a press statement issued here today, Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman Rayat-Bahra Group said, "This is for the first time ever when Infosys has selected such large number of students from single group.
Total 200 students had appeared for the recruitment drive and 134 were -short listed."
All the 126 selected students are from 2011 pass out batch. Even before the students could clear their final exams, they have made it to the Infosys, Bahra added. Students from CSC and IT would be joining in February itself, while that from electrical and mechanical would be joining in March and April. "Selected students would be placed across the country as software developers and would be paid Rs 3.2 lacs per annum," he said. Assistant managing director Sandeep Kaura said that IT giant like Infosys recruiting 126 students from one group is a big thing. "The recruiting team of Infosys was full of praise for the quality of students. Our students are not only excellent on academic aspect, but are also deft at various communication skills. This factor perhaps struck right chord with the Infosys recruiting team," he added.
Kaura said that the group was looking forward to repeat of such performances and that the recruitment has enthused students.

Cognizant Technology Solutions has handed over job offers to 1,643 students of the 2011 batch of students at the VIT University, said G. Viswanathan, Chancellor here on Tuesday.
Addressing a press meet, Mr. Viswanathan said that Cognizant had created a new record in campus recruitment with an offer of Rs.3.05 lakh per annum for the 1,643 candidates out of 2,238 students who appeared for the selection process. The students who received job offers from Cognizant were from all branches of B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, MS (Software Engineering) and M.Sc (CS). As many as 1,886 students have been placed, including that of core groups and the Cognizant offer put together. The highest offer was Rs.9.5 lakh per annum from Amazon.
Mr. Viswanathan said the sale of applications for admission to B.Tech programmes of the university commenced on Monday and the forms could be obtained from major post offices. The entrance exam for admission to the 13 B. Tech programmes on the Vellore campus and 5 B.Tech programmes on Chennai campus would be held on April 16 in 200 centres across 103 cities in the country and Dubai, Singapore and Riyadh.

Abhaneri
Abhaneri is a small town village, situated at a distance of 95 km from Jaipur, on Jaipur-Agra road. The place is popular for the amazing 'Baoris' (step wells) and Harshat Mata Temple. The village of Abhaneri is believed to be established by the King Raja Chand.

Bagru
Bagru is a small village, located at a distance of 30 kms from Jaipur, on Jaipur-Ajmer Road. The village town of Bagru is not popular for any palace or fort, but for its typical wooden prints. These prints of Bagru are acclaimed all over India and are particularly known as Bagru prints.

Bairath
Bairath is a place of historical significance, located at a distance of 86 kms from Jaipur, on Shahpura-Alwar Road. Bairath is said to have existed from the times of Mahabharata. In that period, Bairath was known as Virata Nagar. It used to be the capital of Abhimanyu's (Arjuna's son) father-in-law.

Karauli
Karauli is a small village, situated at a distance of 182 km from Jaipur. Founded in 1348, Karauli is well-known for its Madan Mohanji Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Initially, the town was known as Kalyanpuri, which was named after the local deity Kalyanji.

Ramgarh
Ramgarh is located at a distance of 25kms from the city of Jaipur. In the present day, this primeval spot is eminent for its huge artificial lake. This lake has been shaped by raising a high bund amidst the hills covered with trees.

Ranthambore National Park
Ranthambore National Park is located in the eastern part of Rajasthan at a comfortable distance of 130kms from Jaipur. Nestled between the Aravali and Vindhya mountain ranges, Ranthambore National Park used to be the hunting ground of Maharajas of Jaipur. The Park is an eye treat for the lovers of wild-life. Various natural rivers and man-made lakes flow through the National Park of Ranthambore.

Sanganer
Sanganer is located at a distance of 16 kms from Jaipur on the Tonk road. Sanganer is renowned for its crafts and hand-printed textiles. Sanganer forms a major part of excursion from Jaipur.

Samode
Samode is a great place of tourist interest, located at a distance of 42kms from Jaipur, on the way to Shekhawati in Rajasthan. Samode is renowned for its stunning havelis and forts. Samod makes a perfect destination to enjoy one's holidays.

Sambhar
Sambhar is a small town, located at a distance of 60kms in the west of Jaipur, on Jaipur-Ajmer Highway. Sambhar is famous for the largest saline lake in India. Due to this fact, Sambhar is also known as Salt Lake City. Literally, Sambhar means salt and the lake has been providing salt for over a thousand years.

Sariska National Park
Sariska National Park is a wildlife sanctuary, located at a distance of 107 km from Jaipur. The Park possesses historic monuments and temples, which depicts the legacy of the Maharajas of Alwar. The Park is bigger than Ranthambore but has a similar topography.

Tonk
Tonk is a small town, located at a distance of 96 kms from Jaipur. This little town of Tonk is also known as the "Lucknow of Rajasthan" due to its elegance. Tonk is popular among tourists for its magnificent mosques, mansions and havelis.

Convention Tour

Tour for the delegates on participation basis is planned for visits to historical places like Albert Hall, Amber Fort, Birla Mandir, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Moti Dungri (Ganesh Temple) on 4th October 2010.

Cultural Programme

Cultural programmes showing the tradition of Rajasthan are being organized to entertain the delegates and guests in the evening of 2nd October.

Transport Facility

Transport arrangements will be made to receive the participants and guests from the Jaipur Railway station,Central bus stand and Airport during the convention. Delegates are requested to clearly mention their travel plans for making arrangements to receive them timely.

How To Reach Jaipur And The College

The city of Jaipur is easily accessible from the major cities of India; so reaching Jaipur is not difficult at all. Jaipur is well-connected by rail, road and air. College is situated at Jaipur Delhi National Highway. Jaipur airport is located 25 km from the JEC. From Delhi deluxe and ordinary buses ply at a half-hour frequency and take less than six hours. The Central Bus Stand at Sindhi Camp is located 10 km from the college. Jaipur has a railway junction, which connects Jaipur with the metros and all the major cities of India. BHEL Engineer Trainee (Finance) – 600 Posts
(Mechanical -350, Electrical -200, Electronics – 50)
(UR-261, SC-80, ST-75, OBC-184)

Minimum Eligibility : Engineering degree with a minimum of 65% marks.

Stipend / Salary : Selected candidates have to go through training modules for one year, with a stipend of Rs.10750-430-16750/- and after successful completion of training period, candidates will be paid in salary structure of Rs.11225-450-17525/-.

Age limit : 27 years for Engineers while 29 years for PG in Engineering.

Written examination will be held on 1st of November, 2009.

Supervisor Trainee (Finance) : 600 posts

Minimum Eligibility : Diploma degree with a minimum of 65% marks.
